When India take on the West Indies in the second Twenty20 International (T20I) in Lucknow on Tuesday, Rohit Sharma has a great opportunity to go past Virat Kohli as India’s highest run-scorer in the shortest format.

Rohit, who has scored 2,092 T20I runs so far, is just 11 runs away from edging Kohli, who has been rested for the Windies series, to become India’s leading T20I run-scorer.

Even though Rohit might surpass Kohli in the number of runs, the massive difference between the number of innings taken by the two will still favour the Indian captain. While Rohit is set to play his 86th T20I for India and if he bats, it’ll be his 79th innings, Kohli has scored 2,102 runs in just 58 innings from 62 matches.

Although Kohli has taken fewer innings to get there, he is yet to reach the three-digit score in the T20Is, while India’s stand-in-skipper Rohit already has three T20I tons to his name. Only Colin Munro has three T20I hundreds, other than Kohli as the next best ones are New Zealand’s Martin Guptill, his retired teammate Brendon McCullum, West Indian explosive opener Chris Gayle and Australian duo of Glen  Maxwell and Aaron Finch with two T20I centuries each in their account.

Coming back the second T20I between India and West Indies on Tuesday, the hosts are three boundaries away from crossing the 300-boundary mark in 2018.

Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav is two wickets away from becoming India’s leading wicket-taker in 2018.

India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik, who remained unbeaten on 31 in team’s chase of 110 in the opening T20I match at the Eden Gardens Stadium, needs another 37 runs to cross the 2000 international run mark in limited-over formats.
