India Test wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha is not really worried at what position he bats in as much as contributing to India's victory.

It is often seen that Saha bats at No. 7 below all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin while Ravindra Jadeja has also been promoted ahead of the two aforementioned.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday here prior to the team's nets, the 33-year-old Saha said: "The management decides (who bats where). It is not that every match I have batted at No. 7. Sometimes, I have gone in at No. 6 and Ashwin has batted after me. We keep rotating. Even Jadeja has batted at No. 6. So, between the three of us, we keep rotating. The team management decides what conditions favour which particular batsman, and we are ready for Nos. 6, 7 and 8."

On pitches helpful to bowlers, Saha did not feel additional pressure to perform with the bat. "We need to take 20 wickets to win a Test. To take 20 wickets, bowlers need more options and everyone has to contribute with the bat," said the Kolkatan.

Saha said that the team was prepared for anything that the Nagpur pitch offered. With spinners having dominated in the past here, Saha said the aim of the team was to ultimately win the match.

"Pace-friendly or spin-friendly, we will try to take breakthroughs initially if they bat first and take the match deep and try and win the match. Ultimately, that will be the aim. Whatever the pitch, we will go with the flow. The previous Test match results will be at the back of our minds. But we will stay in the present. What happened two years ago or one year ago on this pitch need not necessarily be the same now," Saha said.

He added that the team was staying in the present, taking one match at a time and not looking far ahead as the South Africa tour in January-February. While the general feeling is that the team has asked for green-top for pitches this series to tune themselves for South Africa, Saha clarified: "The preparation is match by match. The way we prepared for Eden Gardens Test, it is finished. Now we are here in Nagpur, so we'll think about it. Of course, at the back of the mind, we will think of South Africa tour and the away tours. First, we will look to win and take the confidence into the next match. So, we will go one match at a time."

Saha, who made 29 and 5 and took three catches in the first Test, said that the atmosphere in the dressing room is "good" after the exciting draw in Kolkata. "We tried to take 10 wickets in the second innings, we took seven of them. If one or two decisions were made early like the catch… We tried. Time (for declaration) was also spoken about. First, we looked to save, when to declare, then if they (Sri Lanka) cannot go for it, then attack. Team plan was for bowlers to go and attack, and they took seven wickets.

"The team atmosphere is good. We could not play that well in the first innings as we wanted to. But, the way we came back and batted in the second innings, Shikhar, Virat, Rahul and then the bowlers attacking in their second innings, 70-odd for 7 wickets is a morale booster for us. We came close to the result. If we had more time, possibly we could have won."
