Ever since Sania Mirza got married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, she has been dragged into India vs Pakistan debate every single time the two nations clash in cricket.

Both Sania and Shoaib are one of the most recognisable athletes of India and Pakistan respectively and a lot of people have blindly assumed that the two got married to unite the rival countries.

“A lot of people have this notion that Shoaib and I got married to unite the two countries. That is not true. Whenever I have been to Pakistan – and I go once every year to meet my in-laws – the love that I get there is immense," Sania once had said.

With India set to lock horns against Pakistan in the Asia Cup in Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, Sania knew what awaited her during the match and which is why she took a smart decidion to go off social media until the buzz about the match ended. She said she was OK even if it needed her to be off twitter and facebook for a few days.

“So less than 24 hours to go for this match. It’s safe to sign out of social media for a few days since the amount of nonsense that’s going to be said here can make a ‘regular’ person sick, let alone a pregnant one. Later guys! Knock yourselves out! BUT remember-ITS ONLY A CRICKET MATCH! Toodles!” Sania tweeted before going off social media.

Earlier, former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar said that he believed India are one of the main contenders to lift the ongoing Asia Cup, but tipped Pakistan as the favourites given the neighbouring country has been playing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) regularly.

Pakistan have begun their Asia Cup campaign routing minnows Hong Kong by eight wickets Sunday and have the added advantage of playing in the UAE, their "home" ground.

"I think Pakistan start as favourites more than India because they have been playing in those conditions (in the UAE) for a while now and it's a team which is on the surge. India, of course, are resting Virat (Kohli), which takes a lot of strength away from the team," Manjrekar told PTI.
