England's Adil Rashid achieved a unique feat in his team's thumping victory against India in the second Test that ended at Lord's on Sunday. The leg-spinner became just the 14th player in the 141-year history of Test cricket to complete a match without batting, bowling, taking a catch or effecting a run-out. Rashid becomes the first Englishman in 13 years, since off-spinner Gareth Batty, to accomplish this feat.

England defeated India by an innings and 159 runs to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. Healthy contributions from James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Chris Woakes and Jonny Bairstow ensured a one-sided victory for the hosts in the rain-hit contest.

Rashid, who was paid more than Rs 8.5 lakh in match fees, ended up doing little more than any other spectator in the hallowed stadium as his team completed a win inside three days of game time.

England went in with just one spinner for the second Test against India. Overcast conditions during both the Indian innings enabled the hosts' pacers to pick up all 20 wickets. India got bowled out in just 35.2 overs in their first innings and in 47 overs in their second essay. Both times, Rashid's services with the ball weren't required by his skipper Joe Root.

On the field, too, Rashid doesn't stand in the slip cordon and usually patrols the boundaries. Thus, his chances of taking a catch or effecting a run-out are much lesser. Moreover, the majority of the Indian batsmen got nicked out in the match, which meant Rashid hardly saw the ball.

England batted just the one time in the match. They got to 396 for 7 in 88.1 overs, with Woakes scoring an unbeaten 137 and Bairstow getting a 93. Rashid could've had a bat, but Root decided to declare the innings as he was about to come in next.

Rashid did get the opportunity to compete in the first Test against India at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The 30-year-old took a three-for and scored 13 and 16 in England's 31-run victory. But either way, it's hard to imagine him having any complains.
