Virat Kohli became the fastest batsman to 19,000 international runs during his knock of 23 runs on Day One of the ongoing fourth Test between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday.

Kohli, who reached the milestone in just 399 innings, beat legends like Sachin Tendulkar (432 innings), Brian Lara (433 innings), Ricky Ponting (444 innings) and Jacques Kallis (458 innings).

While Kohli's landmark of 19,000 international runs came Down Under, his 18,000-run milestone came in England and he was in South Africa when he reached the 17,000-run mark in international cricket and both the milestones happened just last year and this shows he clearly is in a different league right now among his other competitors.

Kohli, meanwhile, was the 12th batsman overall and just third Indian after Rahul Dravid and Tendulkar to enter the 19,000-run mark in international cricket.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Pujara joined a club that also included Kohli and a few other legends in terms of the number of balls faced in a Test series Down Under.

Pujara (1,000* balls in 166.4 overs this series) became just the fifth Indian Test batsman, after Dravid( 1203 balls - 2003/04), Vijay Hazare (1,192 balls - 1947-48), Kohli (1,093 balls - 2014-15) and Sunil Gavaskar (1,032 balls - 1977-78), to have faced 1,000 or more balls in a Test series in Australia.

The final session of Day one of the fourth Test is underway at the Sydney Cricket Ground and Pujara is well settled at the crease and has Ajinkya Rahane on the other end.
