India need 243 runs to win the fifth and final match of the 5-ODI series against Australia in Nagpur on Sunday. Australia made 242 for the loss of 9 wickets in their 50 overs after Steve Smith chose to bat first.

The visitors were given a good start again by openers Aaron Finch and David Warner. The two added 100 runs for the first wicket before Finch fell to Hardik Pandya.

Australia then lost their way as three more wickets fell in quick intervals. Captain Steve Smith was the next to go falling to Kedar Jadhav.

Axar Patel then sent back David Warner and Peter Handscomb in two overs to reduce Australia to 118 for 4.

Marcus Stoinis and Travis Head then added 87 runs for the fifth wicket to bring Australia back in the game. However, both got out in quick succession, just into the final overs, as Australia failed to score big in the last 10 overs.

Matthew Wade scored a six off Bhuvneshwar Kumar but fell to Bumrah attempting another one. James Faulkner was run out in the last over. Bhuvneshwar earned a wicket off the final ball of the innings.

The visitors managed only 52 runs in the final 10 overs.

Axar Patel picked up three wickets while Jasprit Bumrah got two wickets for the hosts.

The fifth ODI is a dead rubber but India need to win to reclaim their No. 1 ODI ranking. India went back to their frontline pacers - Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah- after having tried Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami for just one match. India had to do without the ill Yuzvendra Chahal, who was replace by Kuldeep Yadav.

For Australia, Kane Richardson was unwell and James Faulkner returned to take his place.
