Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are now the second-most successful batting pair in Indian cricket. The Indian openers reached the milestone during fourth one-day international against Australia in Mohali. They added 193 for the first wicket on Sunday and now have scored 4562 runs as a pair in 102 innings.

Rohit and Shikhar overtook the pair of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, who scored 4387 runs batting together. Sachin still leads the list with Sourav Ganguly- the pair amassed 8227 runs together from 176 innings. Sachin-Sourav are not only the most successful batting pair in Indian cricket but also lead the list overall.

Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly are fourth with 4332 runs while the pair of Rohit and Virat Kohli are at number five with 4328 runs.

Rohit and Shikhar also went pas 1000 runs against Australia during their partnership on Sunday. The pair also brought up their 15th 100-run stand.

The pair of Rohit-Dhawan are fourth in the list of most runs as an opening pair, behind Sachin-Sourav (6609 from 136), Australia's Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden and the West Indian pair of Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes.

Gilchrist and Hayden have 5372 runs in 114 innings, while Greenidge and Haynes have scored 5150 runs from 102 innings.

Rohit also became the fastest to reach 3000 runs at home and broke Kohli's record. Rohit took 58 matches to reach the landmark, whereas Kohli took 63 games. Leading the list overall is Hashim Amla, who managed to reach the 3000-run mark at home came in his 57th game.
