India were luckless in the first session of the opening day in Perth on Friday. After losing the toss and being asked to bowl first, they failed to get any Australian wickets till lunch. While Marcus Harris and Aaron Finch played with determination and defied the all-pace Indian attack, India were also little unlucky in the session.

Aaron Finch survived two close calls as India made a mess of their DRS calls. In Mohammed Shami's opening over Finch was hit on the pads. Shami looked excited but Nigel Llong's finger stayed down. Indian captain Virat Kohli then asked the opinion of a couple of players before calling for a review.

However, the DRS did not go India's way as Finch was hit just above the knee-roll and the ball was going over the stumps.

However, it did not end there.

Shami's next ball too hit Finch on the pads. Llong did not respond to Shami's appeal. The bowler looked at the captain but it seemed Kohli didn't want risk losing all the DRS calls so early in the innings. He decided to let it go. However, the replay showed that it was hitting the stumps and Finch would have been out has DRS been taken.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first in Perth. India went without any spinner in their playing 11 as an injured R Ashwin was replaced by pacer Umesh Yadav. Hanuma Vihari came in for injured Rohit Sharma. Australia fielded the same team that played in the losing cause at Adelaide.
