From the 3D glass tweet to not be part of Team India's World Cup squad - a lot happened with middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu who announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

The announcement came after Rayudu - who was a standby for Team India at the ICC World Cup - was snubbed by the team management and not sent as a replacement for injured Vijay Shankar.

Rayudu - who was always India's No. 4 spot batsman - was initially dropped from the World Cup squad and Shankar was taken instead. The team management called Shankar a 'three-dimensional' player.

"We did give a few more chances to Rayudu but Vijay Shankar gives three dimensions. He can bat if the conditions are overcast, he can bowl, plus he is a fielder. We are looking at Vijay Shankar as a No. 4," chief selector MSK Prasad said, justifying his selection.

Taking a dig at the selectors on choosing Shankar and calling him a 'three dimensions' player, Rayudu posted a tweet saying,  “Just Ordered a new set of 3D glasses to watch the world cup”.

Now, while announcing Team India's squad for the West Indies tour, MSK Prasad was asked about the tweet to which he responded saying, "Lovely tweet; I really enjoyed it. It was timely. Fantastic".

While asked about Rayudu's retirement MSK Prasad added saying, "There were certain programmes to see Ambati Rayudu comes into the setup. We (selection committee) don't have anything against a particular player".

"When Rayadu was picked for ODIs on the basis of his T20 performance, there was criticism, but we had some thoughts about him. When he failed the fitness test, we put him for a fitness program. Due to certain combinations, he wasn't picked, it doesn't make Selection Committee biased" MSK Prasad added.
