Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has responded to former cricketer Tanvir Ahmed’s recent comments on improving his English.
Speaking in a Youtube video, the former Pakistan bowler had said that Babar will need to communicate with media as captain and will need to work on improving his English.
“Try to improve your personality. By personality, I mean a person can change his dressing sense. Babar Azam also needs to improve his English, which is necessary. Whenever someone becomes a captain, he has to talk during the toss and post-match presentation. Plus, he will also give interviews on various channels when he tours different countries,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
"A leader needs to be punctual and organised as the players follow the captain. He should also maintain his fitness level, because if the captain himself isn’t fit, then he can’t advise other players on improving their fitness,” he added.
Responding this, Azam released a video and said, "I’m a cricketer, my job is to play cricket. I am not a ‘gora,’ who knows English completely."
"Yes, I am working on it, but you learn these things over a period of time, you can’t just suddenly learn it."

The 25-year old also spoke on the topic of the current pandemic situation across the globe due to the COVID-19 outspread.
“We know better than other teams how it feels to play without a crowd having played most of our cricket in Dubai in last 10 years,” he said.
“It’s not a great feeling for fans and it’s not great for us also,” he concluded.
