The only word apt for Kedar Jadhav's chance introduction to spin bowling for India is 'serendipity'- which means the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way. Otherwise, what can explain the connection between food coming late during India's net and Kedar Jadhav becoming a regular in Indian line-up thanks to his 'allround' abilities. 

According to Espn Cricinfo, during the New Zealand tour of India in 2016, one day lunch didn't come on time during a net session. Hence the Indians opted for extended practice. Since the regular spinners Amit Mishra and Axar Patel were occupied elsewhere, Jadhav was given the ball in a merely part-time role. But then skipper MS Dhoni liked what he saw in Jadhav. Wily Dhoni understood that he may have got a player who can bowl handy 4-5 over spell in ODIs and also get much needed breakthroughs. He used Jadhav during the series effectively and there was no looking back for this Maharashtra lad. 

Jadhav, who has made a comeback after recovering from a hamstring injury, made a compelling contribution of three wickets in the Asia Cup clash against Pakistan on Wednesday, picking up three wickets with his deceptive side-arm action. "I don't bowl much in the nets. Honestly, I just bowl a couple of overs in the practice session before a match. I think if I try and work on my bowling in the net sessions, then whatever is there it might get broken. So I stay in my limit," said Jadhav, who has featured in 42 ODIs.
Jadhav also recalled how former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's decision to hand him the ball in an ODI against New Zealand back in 2016, revealed the bowler in him. "Ever since Dhoni bhai asked me to bowl in that New Zealand match, my life has completely changed," he said.  Asked to pinpoint a reason for his wicket-taking ability, he said: "We try to do what we're expected to do bowling in the right areas, you know, keeping the pressure while the fielders are in the circle.
