Harmanpreet Kaur: 7 things you need to know about cricket's latest hurricane!

A magnificent unbeaten century from star batswoman Harmanpreet Kaur helped India beat Australia by 36 runs in the semifinal of the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup at the county ground on Thursday.

Harmanpreet played a gem of an innings, scoring 171* to propel India to 281. She smashed the Australian bowlers to all parts of the ground and was absolutely brutal in her power hitting. Her 115-ball knock was studded with 20 fours and seven sixes and was rightly adjudged the player of the match award.

1. Harmanpreet, 28-year-old, was born in Moga, Punjab on March 8, 1989.

2. Virender Sehwag and Ajinkya Rahane are her batting idols.

3. She made her One Day International debut against India's arch-rivals Pakistan in the 2009 Women's Cricket World Cup.

4. Her Test debut came in 2014 during India's tour of England.

5. Harmanpreet became the first Indian cricketer to play in foreign T20 leagues when she signed a contract with the Sydney Thunder of Women's Big Bash League in Australia.

6. She is also the first Indian to sign up for ECB's Kia Super League with Surrey Stars.

7. Her knock of 171 runs against Australia on Thursday is the second highest score by an Indian in women’s ODIs. Her teammate Deepti Sharma tops the list with 188 runs.
