Australia have struggled with their batting in recent matches including the ongoing ODI series against India.

Australia have suffered from frequent batting collapses in recent matches, and with the exception of David Warner and Steve Smith, all other batsmen have struggled for consistency. The absence of depth in the batting order was evident on Sunday after they threw away a great start in Indore to finish at a below-par 293 in their 50 overs.

Former Australian captain Michael Clarke also acknowledged it and said that Australia were probably 40 runs short in his post-innings video analysis.

Former Indian great Harbhajan Singh commented on the analysis and asked Michael Clarke to come out of retirement to help the Aussie batting order. He wrote, "Mate u need to come out of your retirement and start playing again I think.Era of Aussies producing top batsmans is over I feel.No quality."

Clarke replied to the tweet on Monday saying he was enjoying the retirement and his stint as an expert, "I have only just seen this buddy. These old legs of mine are enjoying the air conditioned commentary box. Aussies have some work to do! "
