Suresh Raina- one of Indian cricket's most talented players turns 31 today. The Uttar Pradesh has been brilliant performer in limited-overs cricket- both for the national side and Chennai Super Kings in IPL. 

On his birthday, here's a look at some interesting facts about the destructive left-hander:

Roots in Kashmir

Suresh is a military kid. His father, Trilok Chand, is a retired military officer who hails from Jammu & Kashmir. Born in a family of Kashmiri Pandits, Suresh Raina has four siblings – brothers Dinesh, Naresh and Mukesh and elder sister Renu.

2004 U-19 World Cup

Raina represented India at the 2004 edition of the ICC Under-19 World Cup, where India ended up being semi-finalists. The team included future Indian players like Shikhar Dhawan, Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu.  His stellar performance in U-19 World Cup in 2004 earned him the Border-Gavaskar Scholarship to get trained at the Australian Cricket Academy.

Not a memorable debut

Suresh Raina was dismissed for a first-ball duck against Sri Lanka on his ODI debut. Ironically, Raina who has failed to flourish as a Test batsman, scored a century on Test debut. 

First Indian to score T20I century

Raina scored India's first T20 century. His 101-run knock against South Africa in 2010 World T20 in West Indies was the first ton scored by an Indian in an international T20 match.

Century in all formats

Raina is the first Indian batsman to have score centuries in all 3 formats of the game. While Raina has 5 hundreds in ODIs, he has scored one century in both T20Is and Tests. 

Youngest T20I captain

Suresh Raina went on to become the youngest captain for India in the T20I format at the age of 23. He is also the second youngest player to lead India in any format, after Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi (21).

Never missed a game for CSK

Suresh Raina was included the Chennai Super Kings franchise from the very first season of Indian Premier League. Raina has never missed a match for CSK in IPL, playing a total of 112 IPL matches for them. 

Best in IPL 

Raina is the highest scorer in IPL. Raina has 3,699 runs under his belt in the 132 matches with one century and 25 half-centuries. 

He sings!

Raina has also lent his voice to a Bollywood song. A romantic number named Tu Mili Sab Mila from the movie Meeruthiya Gangsters (2015) was sung by Raina. He also played saxophone on a kids' television show.

...and he cooks

Raina has said in a some interviews that he likes cooking. In a chat with ESPNCricinfo, he revealed that during his first tour as a captain of the Indian team, he had cooked for the whole team along with Ashok Dinda.
