Former Team India skipper MS Dhoni celebrates his birthday on Tuesday (July 7) as the veteran cricketer turns 39 years old.

Over the years, Dhoni transformed his game massively for the team and became one of the best captains in world cricket.

While one might argue about the GOAT stats of the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman, however, statistics back the idea of how clinical and effective he has been for the Men In Blue over the past decade.

So here are some stats showing why Dhoni is a true legend of the sport of India and will go down as one of the greatest of all time in the history books.

1. MAJOR TROPHIES WON

Dhoni has won all possible major cricketing accolades that one can achieve during their playing stint.

He is also the only international captain to have won ICC 50-over World Cup, T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy.

2. MOST APPS AS A SKIPPER

With 332 appearances under his belt as the Team India skipper, Mahi is the most capped skipper as a captain. During this time, Dhoni has offered himself as the main catalyst in multiple games and transformed the rest of numerous matches by coming up with match-winning performances.

3. HIGHEST ODI SOCRE FOR AN WICKETKEEPER-BATSMAN

The 39-year-old is not only cool, calm and collected while he is keeping the stumps, but Dhoni is also equally lethal with the bat. His match-winning abilities with the bat helped India massively in crucial situations.

Back in 2005, Dhoni played an unbeaten knock of 183 runs off 145 balls during India's 3rd ODI match against Sri Lanka in Jaipur. It was thanks to his Hollywood hitting that India chased down a target of 298 and won the match by 6 wickets in the end. Mahi's 183-run innings still remains the highest individual score by any wicketkeeper-batsman in world cricket.

4. WINNING THE WORLD CUP WITH A SIXER!

How can any Indian cricket fan ever forget the iconic moment of MS Dhoni hitting a mammoth six at the Wankhede Stadium against Sri Lanka in final of the 2011 World Cup to secure the title for the Men In Blue?

That scintillating movement still sends shivers down the spine of many cricket fans. When Mahi struck the ball to "finish it off in style" for India, he also embedded his name in the record book as he became the only batsman to clinch World Cup with a six.
