Rishabh Pant who had tested positive for COVID-19 is all set to join the Virat Kohli-led Team India squad in Durham on July 20. Pant has been in isolation at a relative's home after contracting COVID-19 while on a 20-day break.

He was asymptomatic and had now recovered. It is said that his quarantine ended on Sunday and Pant is free to leave and join the team for practice.

According to the information available with InsideSport, though Pant's quarantine ended on Sunday, he will still not join the team before July 22. This also means Pant can play the 2nd practice match which is scheduled just before the 1st Test on August 4.

As per InsideSport, Pant will be joining the team either on July 22 or 23 in Durham. India will play a warm-up match in Durham against Select County XI from Tuesday.

As for the COVID-19 cases within the squad, Team India reported two positive cases in wicket-keeper Pant and throwdown specialist Dayanand Garani. They had been isolated at separate London locations.

Three others — Abhimanyu Easwaran, Wriddhiman Saha, and bowling coach Bharat Arun — have also been in isolation as Garani's close contacts.

InsideSport reported that the quarantine period for Abhimanyu Easwaran, Wriddhiman Saha, and bowling coach Bharat Arun will end on July 24. All three have tested negative repeatedly. As for Garani, he will stay in complete isolation for some more time.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had said that Rishabh Pant would recover before the 1st Test. "No worries. They will be fine. We have seen the Euro Championship and Wimbledon in England. Rules have changed (with the crowd being allowed inside venues). They were on leave and it's physically impossible to wear masks all the time," Ganguly, who is in the UAE, told News18.

Meanwhile, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah spoke to ECB CEO Tom Harrison and arranged a three-day warm-up match as skipper Virat Kohli demanded.

The world number two Test side will use Emirates Riverside as a home venue for their preparations. The three-day game will see a number of players from the county circuit feature as they go up against the Indian national side. The Play will get underway at 11 AM on Tuesday with 90 overs scheduled per day behind closed doors.
