Google Year In Search 2018: India's top 10 searched sports events this year

Google India has announced its ‘Year in Search 2018’ results, revealing the top search trends this year in India. 

Google’s Year in Search 2018 recaps the questions that have captured the minds of India’s internet users and offers unique perspective to the most significant moments in various fields like news, sports, politics, media and entertainment.

This year, sports dominated the top trending charts in India. The FIFA World Cup 2018 was the top search trend not only in sports but overall too. The World Cup was actually the biggest search trend of the year worldwide.

While the term 'live score' was India's second most searched in 2018, Indian Premier League (IPL) was the second most searched term in sports events. 

It was followed by another cricket event - Asia Cup 2018. 

Indian sports fans also followed Asian Games and CWG 2018 with interest with these event coming at No. 4 and 6 respectively. Surprisingly, Winter Olympics were the 5th most searched event for India in 2018.

Indian fans also showed their interest in premier Tennis events with Wimbledon (7) and Australian Open (10) being part of the top trends.

Two domestic sports leagues- The Pro Kabaddi 2018 in Kabaddi and Indian Super League in football were the 8th and 9th most serached sports event by Indian useres in 2018.
