Former India cricketer Jacob Martin is now out of danger and has been moved to general ward after spending nearly a month in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), according to Indian Express.

Martin had met with a serious road accident in December. The former Baroda captain suffered injuries in his lung and liver and had been on life support system since then.

The 46-year-old has played 10 One-Day Internationals for India and 138 first-class matches.

According to Shishir Hattangadi, Martin is doing well and is able to talk as well now.

His family went through a financial crunch due to the increasing expenses on his recovery. The BCCI and his state team, Baroda Cricket Association (BCA), were first to help Martin after his wife Khyati wrote a letter to CEO Rahul Johri, requesting the board for financial assistance.

His former Baroda teammate Yusuf Pathan was the first to spread the word about Martin's accident and offer help. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, pacers Ashish Nehra and Zaheer Khan have provided financial assistance while Baroda and current India cricketer Krunal Pandya also helped. Munaf Patel also chipped in after being approached by the BCA.

Martin is reported to have received around Rs 16 lakh as assistance from various quarters while the hospital expenses incurred so far have been more than Rs 15 lakh and expected to increase, as he could be spending more weeks there for his rehab.
