It's five past three in the afternoon at the Shiv Chhatrapati International Airport here on Monday. India's junior cricket team that won the Under 19 World Cup was supposed to arrive from New Zealand at 2 pm. There were many young and aspiring cricketers waiting with glimmer in their eyes, hoping to see their heroes walk out with the trophy in their hands.

There were Mumbai Cricket Association officials too with bouquets, sweet boxes and garlands. India U-19 captain Prithvi Shaw's school-mates of Rizvi Springfield School, too, made it to the airport to receive their colleague with a banner welcoming the captain.

"The flight has arrived," says one before the video cameras and cell phone cameras shift their targets to the arrival gate.

The crowd erupts in joy and scream once coach and former India captain Rahul Dravid comes out followed by Shaw at around 3.20 pm.

However, the members of the team head straight to the team bus one after another amidst tight security. The officials hardly get any opportunity to felicitate the heroes with garlands.

The fans did not get to click pictures with the players, while the MCA officials were unhappy that they could not garland the winners on arrival — thanks to the security personnel, who whisked players away to the bus as soon as they stepped out.

However for the aspiring cricketers welcoming the junior Indian players, it was still memorable. "It was inspiring experience to see the World Cup winning team although we hardly got any moment to talk to them," said 16-year-old Aaradhya Kamble.

Meanwhile, Vinod Deshpande, the MCA vice-president, was disappointed that they could not receive the team the way they wanted to.

"We had brought garlands and bouquets but we hardly got any chance as the security people took them away quickly. But we are happy to receive them," Deshpande said.

Shaw's school coach Raju Pathak was there too with his boys. "We are obviously here to receive our boy who has made us proud," he said.

Many aspiring cricketers were inspired as everyone had one thing on their lips that one day they would be received here like Shaw and his teammtes. "Do saal baad mujhe bhi aise lene aaoge (Two years later you will also come to receive me," said a young cricketer, Vaibhav Kalamkar.
