Mohammed Shami's apparent admission of philandering before the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) has helped him get his BCCI's central contract back on Thursday.

In its report submitted to the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) after going through all the material provided by Shami's wife, Hasin Jahan, ACSU chief Neeraj Kumar has concluded that "no further actions/ proceedings under the BCCI anti-corruption code are warranted in the matter".

BCCI has, thus, handed Shami 'Category B' annual contract of Rs 3 crore retainership. The Board had earlier withheld the speedster's name pending investigation.

The charges of adultery and domestic violence are being investigated by the Kolkata Police and Shami's "personal life" is out of the Board's purview.

DNA has reliably learnt that Shami apparently admitted to lying about his financial deal with a London-based businessman Mohammed to his wife Jahan in order to spend time with "his woman friends" in Dubai.

"ACSU checked all his bank accounts details and found no 'suspicious entry' whatsoever. It was found out that Shami was only cooking up stories of 'financial gains' from a businessman to somehow go and spend time with his female friends outside his marriage," was how a BCCI insider stated.

It is important to mention here that BCCI relied on proofs provided by Shami and his wife because the brief to ACSU was "to probe particular allegations pertaining to the provisions of its code of conduct".

Jahan's claims that the cricketer accepted money from Pakistani woman Alishba and was getting money to fix matches at the behest of UK businessman Mohammedbhai could not be proved.

Shami now joins his other Team India mates KL Rahul, Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Hardik Pandya, Ishant Sharma and Dinesh Karthik in Category B of the BCCI's contracts list for the period October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018.
