Delhi Daredevils renamed Delhi Capitals- Twitter is not impressed

Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Daredevils was renamed Delhi Capitals ahead of the 12th season of the league on Tuesday. Delhi Daredevils unveiled their new name ‘Delhi Capitals’, along with a new logo featuring lions in an event in New Delhi.

“We wanted this name to mean something to each and everyone from Delhi,” said Parth Jindal, Director of the franchise, had to say. Delhi are under new management with JSW, owners of Bengaluru FC, coming on board.

However, the new name did not get much favour on social media. Many on Twitter took a dig at the new name. Here’s how Twitter reacted to the new name.

Shreyas Iyer has been named as the captain of Delhi Capitals for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Ahead of the 2019 IPL auctions, the Delhi Daredevils released former captain Gautam Gambhir and a host of international stars including Jason Roy, Glenn Maxwell and Liam Plunkett. They also released Indian pacer Mohammed Shami. They have added Shikhar Dhawan to the side.
