Having asked the Supreme Court to remove the remaining three BCCI office-bearers last week, the Committee of Administrators (COA) on Thursday tightened the noose by barring officials from using cricket funds to seek legal remedy and taking away all their functional powers.

As a result, the acting president CK Khanna, acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary and treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary have been stopped from exercising any powers in the board for stalling the implementation of Justice Lodha panel reforms.

“Any employee/ retainer/ consultant of BCCI who receives a communication from any office-bearer and finds that the same is not copied to the CEO and/or the COA, shall immediately forward the same to the CEO and/or the COA, as the case may be,” stated the communication issued on Thursday.

It has come after Choudhary refused to sign the new central contract of the players as he was not kept in the loop by the COA.

“Does the COA understands how the organisations registered under the Societies Act (as in case of BCCI) functions? SC has allowed us to run cricket in India but COA is deciding everything from cricketing matters to policy matters,” said a senior BCCI official.

Apart from Choudhary, even treasurer had questioned the COA’s intentions to appoint General Manager (Marketing) as the position was not recommended by the Justice Lodha committee.
