Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels will return to the West Indies one-day international squad after an absence of three and two years respectively. Both players were selected in West Indies' squad for the ODI series in England.

Gayle last played an one-day match in March 2015 while Samuels played his previous one-day match in October 2016. Their selection to the national side comes after Cricket West Indies' relaxed the criteria in order to be eligible for selection.

Sunil Naraine and Dwayne Bravo are not a part of the squad captained by Jason Holder. Narine has been asked to play in the Regional Super50 before he is considered for selection while is Bravo is still not 100% fit.

Opener Kieran Powell, and allrounders Jonathan Carter and Roston Chase, were excluded from the squad that played the ODIs against India in June and July - West Indies' previous 50-over assignment. Fast bowler Jerome Taylor, who last played an ODI in June 2016, was also picked in the squad, having played the one-off T20 international against India.

West Indies begin the ODI leg of their tour after the second Test against England at Headlingley on August 25. They play an ODI against Ireland in Stormont on September 13, followed by five matches against England between September 19 and 29.

Squad:

Sunil Ambris, Devendra Bishoo, Miguel Cummins, Chris Gayle, Jason Holder (capt), Kyle Hope, Shai Hope, Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Jason Mohammed, Ashley Nurse, Rovman Powell, Marlon Samuels, Jerome Taylor, Kesrick Williams
