The visit of Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) acting president CK Khanna and Rajasthan Royals’ owner Manoj Badale augurs well for the faction-ridden Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA). If Khanna had come to mend differences between the two warring factions of the association in pursuit to get back the state in the BCCI’s fold, Badale had come to ‘see the Sawai Mansingh Stadium'.

The talks between the acting president and office-bearers of the Lalit Modi camp and CP Joshi camp ended on a positive note. “BCCI did not neglect RCA. A committee was looking after cricket in the state. I have come here to assess the situation. Hopefully, very shortly the matters will be sorted out,” Khanna said.

During the meeting, RCA secretary RS Nandu handed over a letter to the BCCI president that stated, “The resignation of Lalit Modi was accepted by the executive committee as well as the general body of the Nagaur District Cricket Association...RCA has already filed an application for withdrawal of the civil suit on October 5 and the Learned Court has posted the case on October 13, when the civil suit would be allowed to be withdrawn in every likelihood.”

The apex cricket board had asked for these two condition to be fulfilled before they decide to lift the ban on the state cricket association. “The next hearing is scheduled on October 25 and hopefully we all will get to hear some good news. First requirement was that of the resignation of Modi which has been accomplished, second was lifting of cases that RCA had filed against BCCI and the work in this direction is underway,” said RCA joint secretary

Mahendra Nahar. Rajendra Singh Rathore, Mohammed Iqbal, Pinkesh Jain, Nripjeet Singh Surpur were also present during  the meeting.

ROYALS MAKE AN ENTRY

Royals’ owner Manoj Badale did not divulge much, but his visit to the SMS Stadium speaks a lot about the franchise’s reluctance to shift base and change the name. “I have come here to see the stadium. Our intention has always been to play here. Hopefully, name of the franchise and the home ground will stay as it was earlier,” he said.

Along with him, Rajeev Khanna who was earlier associated with the team as the manager (operations) was also present. After Royals’ suspension, he got associated with Kings XI Punjab.

On August 26, DNA had published the news— Rajasthan Royals rule out name, base change— that stated that the team owner wants to stick with Rajasthan as their base and ruled out name change. Instead, they plan to change the company holding name from Jaipur IPL Cricket Pvt Ltd to Royal Sports to get involved in other sports as well as to nurture more talent.
