Keeping pace with various other state cricket associations in India, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) is all set to continue the "dynasty rule" by handing over the affairs formally to former president Anurag Thakur's younger brother Arun Kumar Dhumal on Friday.

DNA has learnt that Arun's election as president has only remained a formality as no one else has filed nominations to challenge him till Thursday. Similarly, Sumit Kumar Sharma's election to secretary's post is only a formality.

Outgoing acting-president RP Singh has agreed to remain in body as vice-president while Amitabh Sharma and Avnish Parmar would be elected joint secretary and treasurer, respectively.

With dissenting cricket associations of Chamba and Lahaul Spiti are not allowed to participate and vote in the AGM on Friday, there is no way that there will be any opposition to Union minister of state for Finance and former BCCI president's authority.

However, the speculations over nominating Thakur for BCCI AGM seems to have no truth as the Committee of Administrators (COA) may not entertain him citing his "dismissal by apex court on January 3, 2017".

Thakur ruled HPCA for nearly 17 years since first becoming the youngest president in 2000. How much of influence he still has in Himachal can be judged by the fact that not a single nomination has been filed against his hand-picked nominees.

Apart from the five main office-bearers, the consensus has been reached for four council members.

Azhar favourite in HCA

In Hyderabad Cricket Association, the 155 private clubs, 51 institutional clubs, 9 district associations and 11 former international (men and women) players are set to decide the fate of former India skipper Mohammad Azharuddin in a tri-angular contest on Friday.

The others in the fray are former vice-president Prakash Chand Jain and K Dilip Kumar. It is believed that Azhar is on strong footing and he has managed to garner the majority support including those from former players like MV Narasimha Rao, Shivlal Yadav, Arshad Ayub, Venkatapathi Raju, VVS Laxman, Noel David among men, and S Rajani Venugopal, P Diana David, Sandra Braganza and Purnima Rau among women.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Officer of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Thursday declared that the Sourav Ganguly-led five-member panel won uncontested as office-bearers and will remain in their positions after the annual general meeting on Saturday. Former India captain Ganguly will thus stay on as the president of the CAB, till at least July 2020 before entering a 'cooling off period' as per the BCCI constitution.
