'Almost as good as Headingley': Michael Vaughan mocks BCCI over new Motera Stadium

The stadium was built after demolishing the previous 53000-seater Motera Stadium in 2015.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has once again fired shots at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Vaughan took to Twitter and posted a tweeted taking about India's brand new Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad.

With the cost estimated to be around US$ 100 million, the stadium is set to play host to various sports other than cricket, which includes football, hockey, basketball, kabaddi, boxing, lawn tennis, athletic track, squash, billiards, badminton, and swimming.

The stadium is touted to be the world's largest, overtaking Melbourne cricket ground with a capacity of over 100,000 spectators. In comparison to Headingley which holds 17,000 spectators.

However, the former cricketer quoted BCCI's post on Twitter and said: "Almost as good as Headingley !!!!"

US President Donald Trump and India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing a massive rally in the stadium.

A program called, "Kem Chho Trump" will be held in the stadium where both Trump and Modi will address a gathering of about 1.25 lakh according to reports.

The stadium was built after demolishing the previous 53000-seater Motera Stadium in 2015.
