Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) Suresh Raina, who opted out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 just days before the kickoff, on Friday (September 18) called on Jammu & Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh in Srinagar and discussed a series of plans of the state police for honing the sports skills of local Kashmiri youths.

The J&K Police department wants Raina in encouraging the local Kashmiri youths to hone their sports skills. Raina had also volunteered to meet and guide some state-level and local cricket teams in J&K.

Taking to Twitter, the J&K Police wrote: "Famed Indian Cricketer Sh Suresh Raina @ImRaina called on DGP J&K Sh Dilbag Singh at PHQ Srinagar and had discussions about a series of plans of J&K Police for encouraging local youth in honing their #sports skills. He volunteered to meet and guide some cricket teams".

On September 1, Raina had revealed the reason why he left IPL 2020 for India. The Indian cricketer claimed that it was due to an attack by robbers in Punjab's Pathankot district.

The opening clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 will take place on September 19 and it involves four-time champions Mumbai Indians taking on three-time winners Chennai Super Kings in Abu Dhabi. It will be the clash between Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni, two of the finest captains not just in IPL but in world cricket.

Ahead of Saturday's kick-off, Mumbai Indians hold the edge over Chennai Super Kings, having won three out of their four IPL titles by beating the Chennai Super Kings in 2013, 2015 and 2019.

In their last encounter in 2019, Mumbai Indians won the match by one run in the final in Hyderabad when Lasith Malinga bowled a perfect slower ball to deceive Shardul Thakur.

In the build-up to IPL 2020, Chennai Super Kings have been jolted by the withdrawals of Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh while 13 members of their entourage tested positive for the coronavirus.
