'Absolute legend': Twitter erupts as Jhulan Goswami becomes 1st woman to get 200 ODI wickets

The first male cricketer to get to 200 ODI wickets was also an Indian - the legendary Kapil Dev.

Jhulan Goswami on Wednesday became the first woman to take 200 ODI wickets. She achieved the feat in the second ODI between India and South Africa af the ICC Women's Championship at Kimberley.

The lanky pacer made her ODI debut in 2002 against England. She has been a stalwart of the Indian women's cricket team, scripting many memorable wins for the Women In Blue.

 

The first male cricketer to get to 200 ODI wickets was also an Indian - the legendary Kapil Dev. Coincidentally, both Jhulan and Kapil achieved the record in 166 ODIs.

Here is the list of top five wicket-takers in women's ODI cricket

1. Jhulan Goswami (India) - 200

2. Cathryn Fitzpatrick (Australia) - 180

3. Lisa Sthalekar (Australia) - 146

4. Anisa Mohammed (West Indies) - 145

5. Neetu David (India) - 141
