After the Indian Premier League (IPL), all actions now shifts to international cricket where India are all set to take on Australia in the series Down Under from November 27.

The full-fledged tour comprises of three ODIs, as many T20Is and four Test matches. As far the two powerhouses are concerned, Australia have dominated the head-to-head record in ODIs with 78 victories in 145 ODI matches. With 52 games going in India’s favour, 15 clashes were washed out due to rain or other external factors. 

While this record could give a boost to the Aussie side, but the recent rise of India in ODI cricket could prove to be tough for the host.

India vs Australia, January 19, 2020, Bengaluru: Result: India win by 7 wickets

In the three-match series poised at 1-1, the third and final encounter was a decider. Steve Smith’s magnificent century helped Australia post 286-9 while batting first. The total could have been more, but Mohammed Shami's four-wicket haul restricted the damage. Now when chasing, India's batting powerhouse of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli stitched 137-run partnership as they pushed visitors out of the contest. The former scored a century as India won by seven wickets with 15 balls to spare.​

India vs Australia, January 17, 2020, Rajkot, Result: India win by 36 runs

After losing the opening ODI, India made a strong comeback in the second. Shikhar Dhawan (96) and Virat Kohli (78) set the stage for the lower-order batsmen. The late flourish was given by KL Rahul who scored 80 off 52 balls. The home team posted a mountain of 340/6. As for the Aussies, Steve Smith tried his best to take his side over the line, but he found no help from the other batsmen.​

India vs Australia, January 14, 2020, Mumbai: Result: Australia win by 10 wickets

The start of the series saw Virat Kohli’s men down. Except for Shikhar Dhawan, no other Indian batsmen were able to play a long knock as they were bundled out for 255. It was an easy cakewalk for Australia as openers David Warner and Aaron Finch chased the total. Both dashers scored centuries as Australia comfortably won the by ten wickets.​

India vs Australia, June 9, 2019, England, Result: India win by 36 runs

This was the group-stage clash in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan got India off to a flying start. Virat Kohli carried the momentum forward with his brilliant 82-run knock. Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni helped with the extra runs as India posted 352/5. Coming in to chase, most of the Australian batsmen got starts with David Warner, Steve Smith and Alex Carey scoring half-centuries. However, they lost wickets regularly and were bundled out for 316 runs.

India vs Australia, March 13, 2019, Delhi, Result: Australia win by 35 runs

This was the fifth and last ODI of 2019 tour and the Men in Blue were threatened to lose a home ODI series after four years. The Aussies had a great chance even without the services of Steve Smith and David Warner. Usman Khawaja and Peter Handscomb shone with the bat as Australia posted 272/9 while batting first. Their bowlers proved to be too good as India’s top order were sent back and the hosts were bundled out for 237.
