Rohit Sharma's injury situation has taken more turns than anyone expected in the past few weeks. However, this is the very first encouraging news that has come recently regarding Sharma's availability in the test series against Australia.

A report in Mumbai Mirror suggests that, if Rohit Sharma is declared fit when his assessment takes place, he will be available for selection in Team India's last two tests against Australia.

Rohit's assessment takes place on December 11 and if indeed he is declared fit, he will be required to serve a hard 14-day quarantine in Australia, before he can join his team-mates for practice ahead of the third test in Sydney, that takes off on January 7.

While, Rohit is undergoing his rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), the NCA will leave the decision to the seniors after providing an update on his rehab.

"Of course, the decision will have to be made by the selectors and the team management. The NCA will explain where he stands and when he can be fully fit," an official in the know of development told Mumbai Mirror.
