Jadeja needed one run to win with two balls to go.

Rashid pitched it short and Jadeja pulled it in the air.

The fielder at deep mid-wicket came running in and took a comfortable catch.

What drama! Fair result, perhaps, as Afghanistan didn't deserve to lose.

Boundary! Jadeja with a brilliant slog-sweep for four. The ball landed inches inside the rope.

The first ball was a dot. India now need 3 from 4 balls.

  • 26 Sep 2018, 12:59 AM

Jadeja takes a single off the last ball.

He will now be on strike and face Rashid in the last over. Khaleel Ahmed is at the other end.

India need 7 off the last 6 balls.

    This is an absolute nail-biter!

    OUT!

India get four runs from the first two balls of the over. But Aftab comes back well and then Shahidi comes up with the run-out of the tournament to dismiss Kaul.

    IND - 245/9 after 48.5 overs.

    OUT!

Kuldeep does well to drive the first ball of the over towards deep covers, but gets run-out while coming back for the third run.

Good thing for India is that Jadeja is on strike. Siddarth Kaul is the new man at the crease.

Aftab Alam has the ball for Afghanistan.

Four runs from that Rashid over. But no wicket was lost.

Jadeja and Kuldeep have to attack in the next over so that there's not a lot left for the final over by Rashid.

    IND - 240/7 after 48 overs.

  • 26 Sep 2018, 12:46 AM

Six runs from that Aftab Alam over.

Skipper Asghar Afghan has left the 48th and 50th overs for Rashid Khan. This might prove to be a disastrous decision if Rashid just has a couple of runs to defend in the last over. Probably should've brought him on a little earlier.

    IND - 236/7 after 47 overs.

  • 26 Sep 2018, 12:39 AM

Nabi comes back to bowl his final over, gives away just four runs.

Kuldeep has joined Jadeja out in the middle.

Rashid Khan still has two overs left.

    IND - 230/7 after 46 overs.

  • 26 Sep 2018, 12:33 AM

    OUT!

Alam castles Chahar! The right-hander tries to work a slower ball to the leg but misses it altogether.

A disciplined over from Aftab Alam in such a tense situation. He keeps the ball straight and doesn't vary in length.

Afghanistan surely have the upper hand at this point.

    IND - 226/7 after 44.5 overs.

  • 26 Sep 2018, 12:29 AM

    Four!

Chahar gets India a much-needed boundary for India.

Rahman pitches it short and Chahar cuts it to the fence.

India need to keep looking for the odd boundary to ease the pressure being built by the Afghan spinners.

    IND - 223/6 after 44 overs.

  • 26 Sep 2018, 12:25 AM

Rashid mixing his variations well. Jadeja and Chahar are struggling to pick which way the ball will turn. The leg-spinner has two more overs to come.

Just three singles came from that over.

    IND - 216/6 after 43 overs.

  • 26 Sep 2018, 12:20 AM

A phenomenal over from Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Wraps Jadeja on the pads on three deliveries in a row after bowling carrom balls from around the wicket.

Three runs came from that over. India need 40 from 48.

    IND - 213/6 after 42 overs.

  • 26 Sep 2018, 12:07 AM

Nabi to Karthik, begins with three dot balls.

    OUT!

India have no reviews, DK is pissed as he walks back after a wrong decision from the umpire. Karthik tries to flick it away, misses it, and is struck on the pads. Huge appeal, and the umpire raises his finger in no time. That is most definitely sliding down leg-side. And I think there was a bat touch too?

KL Rahul, why you waste the review?

IND 46 off 60 with four wickets to spare.

  • 26 Sep 2018, 12:04 AM

    OUT!

Kedar Jadhav gets dismissed in the most unfortunate way possible.

Karthik drives it straight back powerfully, Rahman gets his hand on it and the ball crashes into the stumps at the other end. Kedar fails to get his bat back inside. He has to walk back for 19 off 26.

    IND - 204/5 after 38.5 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 11:57 PM

Rashid beats Kedar's bat and goes up in appeal. There was a sound but the umpire keeps his finger down. Afghanistan opt for DRS after much deliberation. The replay shows that Kedar's bat hit his pad at the same time the ball went past his bat. The decision is not out. Now neither team has any review left.

    Boundary!

Kedar cuts the next ball for four. Good, positive cricket.

Rashid beats the bat a couple of times to end the over. Follows it up with a death stare each time. Intense.

    IND - 200/4 after 37 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 11:50 PM

Mujeeb Ur Rahman concedes six runs in his 7th over.

The Indian batsmen are rotating the strike comfortably against him.

    IND - 196/4 after 36 runs.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 11:47 PM

Wonderful to see how accurate Rashid Khan is as a leg-spinner. He really is a master. DK and Kedar are having to earn each run here.

    Boundary!

Karthik hits a smart late-cut that runs away to the third-man fence. Much-needed boundary to ease the pressure.

    IND - 190/4 after 35 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 11:35 PM

Rashid gives away two singles and a wide in his fifth over.

Karthik and Kedar will surely look to play out the ace leg-spinner.

    Time for a drinks break.

    IND - 180/4 after 33 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 11:31 PM

This is a huge opportunity for DK. He's got a start and can bolster his chances of cementing a middle-order birth if he manages to take India home.

Karthik's batting on 30, with India needing 76 more runs to win.

    IND - 177/4 after 32 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 11:27 PM

Kedar Jadhav gets off the mark with a streaky boundary. He tries to flick a low full-toss through mid-wicket, but the ball takes the outside edge and runs away to the third-man fence.

Seven runs and a wicket came from that Aftab Alam over.

    IND - 172/4 after 31 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 11:19 PM

Aftab Alam bowls a beamer to Dinesh Karthik, the umpire calls a no ball. Manish Pandey ends up leaving the free hit alone. Yes, he left it alone. The ball was close to the wide line, but it was in no way a wide.

    OUT!

And Pandey is dismissed for 8 off 15.

He doesn't move his feet and flashes at a wide delivery, Shahzad pouches the thick edge.

    IND - 166/4 after 30.3 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 11:18 PM

Mohammad Nabi is in the middle of a good spell here. He's getting sharp turn and not bowling loose balls.

The Indian batsmen can, of course, take their time here.

    IND - 164/3 after 30 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 11:10 PM

DK smashes one to the fence again. Comes down the track and hits a full-toss to the mid-wicket ropes.

Six runs came from that Ahmadi over.

    IND - 158/3 after 28 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 11:06 PM

    Shot!

DK picks up a ball from outside off and sweeps it for four. India need more of this. Manish Pandey is the new man at the crease.

    IND - 152/3 after 27 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 11:00 PM

    OUT!

What's happened here?! MS Dhoni has to walk back for 8 off 17.

The legend was struggling a bit against deliveries that were turning in. It finally got the better of him. He tried to nudge it towards mid-wicket but got hit in line. The umpire quickly raised his finger.

But wait, there's more to it. Dhoni couldn't take a review since KL Rahul wasted the only one India had as he got out plumb LBW earlier. And surprise, surprise, the replay showed that the ball was missing the stumps by a mile. Poor umpiring. And of course, Rahul's misjudgment could cost India dearly.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 10:58 PM

Another quick over from Rashid. The Indian batsmen aren't taking any risks against the skillful leg-spinner.

Just a single in that over.

    IND - 140/2 after 25 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 10:54 PM

Javed Ahmadi comes into the attack. The opening batsman, bowling off-spin, concedes five runs to start his spell.

    IND 139/2 after 24 overs.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 10:46 PM

Nabi getting some sharp turn and wrapping Dhoni on the pad a couple of times.

This is a crucial phase of the match. Another wicket here and the chase could get a lot tougher.

    IND - 131/2 after 22 overs.

Rashid Khan to KL Rahul, DOT.

Rashid and Shahzad now appeal for a stumping but Rahul looks like he is clearly in.

    Doesn't survive now!

Rashid releases the ball back of his hand, straightens it right in front of off-stump. Rahul reviews. Replays show its plumb!

KL Rahul LBW Rashid Khan 60(66)

Dot and a single. Captain Cool is the new batsman, BTW.

Dot to end the over, Dhoni will be on the strike.

    IND 128/2 - 21 overs

Rashid's second over - four dot balls. Still don't understand why did the Afghan captain wait for so long before he called in Rashid.

Five dots before Karthik smashes for a FOUR to deep mid-wicket.

    IND 118/1 - 19 overs

  • 25 Sep 2018, 10:24 PM

Rayudu goes and next ball, Rahul brings up his fifty. His 2nd ODI fifty.

He has DK now on the other end.

DK goes off the mark immediately, goes forward and drags his bat from outside off to long-on. ONE.

Two more runs and over ends with DK on the strike.

    IND 114/1 - 18 overs

They need 139 runs more to win

  • 25 Sep 2018, 10:21 PM

    Finally a breakthrough for Afghanistan!

Comes to bowl his fourth over, strikes the first ball and bags the big wicket - the set batsman, Rayudu.

Delivery smashed by Rayudu goes high,  Najibullah but makes no mistake at long-on. Rayudu knows he has thrown away a golden chance, walks with a clear disappointment on the face.

    IND 110/1 - 16.1 overs

    Drinks called

  • 25 Sep 2018, 10:17 PM

    Rashid finally is called.

    Too late, isn't it?

Rashid to Rayudu, drives one to long-off, ONE.

The spinner continues with being pacy, Rahul opens bat, making use of the speed drives to backward point, ONE.

Rayudu is on a song here, doesn't care how much the ball does spin. FOUR, sweep shot over mid-wicket.

A single and two dots to end the over.

Rahul now cuts one to behind point, ONE. There comes India's 100-run stand.

Rayudu pokes one wide off mid-wicket, ONE - 8th ODI fifty for him. Gets the deserving standing ovation from his team.

Two more singles, just four runs off the over.

    IND 103/0 - 16 overs

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 10:09 PM

Mohammad Nabi's bowling is similar to Suresh Raina's. Both are off-spinners, both hardly turn the ball, and both's strength is to keep it stump-to-stump.

Meanwhile, Rayudu survives a close run-out call after the fielder gets a direct hit from deep mid-wicket.

Six runs came from that over.

    IND - 86/0 after 14 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 10:05 PM

Afghanistan manage to put a lid on the run-flow in the last two overs. Just seven runs came from them. Rahul and Rayudu, though, are continuing to search for boundaries.

    IND - 80/0 after 13 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 09:57 PM

    What. A. Shot.

Rayudu steps out of the crease and Naib straight back for a huge six. That was picture perfect. These two batsmen are competing with each other shot for shot.

Time for Afghanistan to bring on Rashid Khan?

    IND - 73/0 after 11 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 09:53 PM

    SIX!

Shot of the match from Rahul!

Rahman tosses it up, Rahul dances down the track and drives it over covers and into the stands. That was all class!

    IND - 64/0 after 10 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 09:48 PM

Shot. Finally. Rahul hits a shot with authority after a lengthy period of struggle.

Gulbadin Naib starts his spell by bowling the first ball on the pads. Rahul flicks it stylishly past mid-wicket for four.

    Another boundary!

This time Rahul steps out and flat-bats it past covers and mid-off for four.

    SIX!

Boss shot from Rayudu! The right-hander steps out and pulls it over mid-on for a maximum.

The Indians are getting a move-on here.

15 runs came from that over.

    IND - 55/0 after 9 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 09:43 PM

Mujeeb Ur Rahman slips in another quick, economical over. Just the three singles from it. The off-spinner is showing why he is rated so highly in white ball cricket.

    IND - 40/0 after 8 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 09:40 PM

    Another aerial boundary for Rayudu.

Alam bowls it in his arc and the right-hander tries to loft it. The ball takes the edge of the bat and goes just to the right of mid-on for four.

    Shot!

Finally a shot with authority from Rayudu. He takes a big stride out and slaps the ball past point for four.

Good over for India, nine runs came from it.

    IND - 37/0 after 7 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 09:35 PM

The Afghans are not letting the Indian openers get away. Rahman is in the middle of a disciplined spell. Both Rahul and Rayudu seem in a hurry to get boundaries, throwing their bat at almost every delivery. One feels a wicket is around the corner.

Rayudu, though manages to get one away. He steps out and lofts it between covers and mid-off for a boundary.

    IND - 28/0 after 6 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 09:31 PM

An appeal for a caught-behind from wicket-keeper Shahzad. Alam, the bowler, seems half-hearted. The umpire keeps his finger down and replays show that there was no edge. But Rahul will need to stop throwing his bat at every wide ball. The edge might come sooner or later.

    IND - 22/0 after 5 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 09:26 PM

Rahman is bowling quick and flat, not giving any room to the batsmen. Throws in a lovely doosra, too. Rahul was completely outfoxed.

    A maiden over!

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 09:24 PM

    SIX!

Rayudu decides he's had enough. He steps out and slaps it over covers for a maximum. Super shot! The right-hander owes the team a big one here as it was his dropped catch early on that enabled Mohammad Shahzad to go on and get a hundred.

    IND - 19/0 after 3 overs.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 09:19 PM

Afghanistan opting for a spinner to use the new ball at the other end.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman comes on to bowl his off-spin. Slight turn on offer already.

Two runs came from that over.

    IND - 12/0 after 2 overs.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 09:15 PM

Shot! What a start from Rahul! The right-hander stylishly cuts the first ball of the innings for four.

    Another boundary!

Rahul ends the over by clipping the ball off his hips for a four past fine-leg. Poor bowling from Alam.

Good start for India. Ten runs came from the first over.

    IND - 10/0 after 1 over.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 09:11 PM

We're ready for the start of the chase.

India have a new-look opening pair today.

KL Rahul will face the first ball, and he has Ambati Rayudu for company at the other end.

Aftab Alam will bowl the first ball.

    Here we go!

  • 25 Sep 2018, 08:33 PM

Another fine over from Khaleel Ahmed. He concedes just four runs in the final over of Afghanistan's innings.

Some bad news for the Afghans at the end there as Rashid Khan was struggling with a hamstring issue. Let's hope they were just cramps.

Anyway, Afghanistan can be proud of their effort. This is surely a competitive total. The credit for it has to go to Mohammad Shahzad's 124 and Mohammad Nabi's quickfire 64.

India have their task cut out. Will Dhoni end up on the losing side in his 200th ODI as captain?

Join us after a short break for the chase!

    AFG - 248/8 after 49 overs.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 08:22 PM

A top over from young Khaleel. Just the two runs and a wicket came from it. The 20-year-old deserves a lot of credit for holding his nerves in a tense situation and removing the dangerous Nabi.

    AFG - 245/8 after 48 overs.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 08:18 PM

    OUT!

Mohammad Nabi perishes for 64 off 56.

Brilliant bowling from Khaleel, he bowls a pitch-perfect slower-ball. Nabi checks his shot but the ball loops up.

Kuldeep and DK run behind from covers and mid-off respectively, they collide but Kuldeep manages to hold on to the catch.

    India needed this wicket desperately.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 08:17 PM

    SIX!

Nabi with the biggest shot of the day! He stands still as always and hits through the line towards mid-wicket. The ball was hopelessly sent right in his arc, it ended up in the top tier of the stadium. This guy can hit a cricket ball!

Afghanistan even managing to rotate strike easily. One can see the tension on Dhoni's face now. 12 runs came from that over.

    AFG - 243/7 after 47 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 08:12 PM

Kuldeep finishes his spell with figures of 2 for 36 from 10.

His and Jaddu's overs are done now. Expect Afghanistan to go after the rest of the bowlers in the last four overs.

    AFG - 231/7 after 46 overs.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 08:08 PM

    OUT!

    Jadeja breaks the partnership!

Najibullah Zadran goes for another reverse-sweep but the ball crashes into his pad. The umpire gives it out but DRS is taken. The replay shows all three reds and the left-hander has to walk back for a-run-a-ball 20.

    AFG - 226/7 after 44.1 overs.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 08:04 PM

    Fifty up for Mohammad Nabi!

Gets there in 45 balls. This knock might prove to be the difference at the end. A calculated and composed innings from the 33-year-old.

Five runs came from that Kuldeep over.

    AFG - 226/6 after 44 overs.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 08:01 PM

Jadeja brought back into the attack.

The left-arm spinner bowls five tight balls but concedes boundary off the last. A superb cut-shot from Nabi.

    AFG - 221/6 after 43 overs.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 07:56 PM

Zadran playing some quality reverse-sweeps here. The shot seems to come naturally to him.

    SIX!

    A stunning shot from Nabi!

Gets on one knee and slog-sweeps it for a huge six.

    Four!

This time Zadran plays a conventional sweep and the ball races away to the fence.

Zadran and Nabi manage to take 17 runs from that Kuldeep over. Wow! The chinaman bowler had conceded just 13 runs in his seven overs prior to this.

    AFG - 213/6 after 42 overs.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 07:52 PM

    Fine shot from Nabi!

Stays inside his crease and drives one from Khaleel past covers and mid-off for four.

Good over for Afghanistan, seven runs came from it. They're on course for 250. If they get close to that, India could find themselves in trouble. One would fancy Rashid and Co to defend 250 against an inexperienced batting line-up.

    AFG - 196/6 after 41 overs.

    FacebookTwitterWhatsappLinkedin
  • 25 Sep 2018, 07:48 PM

MS Dhoni brings Kuldeep Yadav back into the attack as we enter the death overs.

India have the opportunity to wrap up the Afghan innings somewhere close to 220.

Khaleel misfields and Zadran has his first boundary. It was a nicely-executed reverse-sweep but the pacer should've gotten down and stopped it.

    AFG - 189/6 after 40 overs.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 07:45 PM

Najibullah Zadran has joined Mohammad Nabi out in the middle.

How much will Afghanistan be eyeing at this point?

    AFG - 184/6 after 39 overs.

  • 25 Sep 2018, 07:37 PM

    OUT!

Mohammad Shahzad departs for 124 runs from 116 balls.

He tried to slog another six, but there was no pace on that delivery from Kedar. The ball went high up and Dinesh Karthik did well to come running in from long-off and complete the catch.

A potentially match-winning knock from Shahzad comes to an end. The crowd is on its feet.

    SIX!

    Stand and deliver from Nabi!

Kaul pitches it straight and full, Nabi stays inside the crease and lofts it straight back for a maximum. The right-hander is looking dangerous here. He's batting on a-run-a-ball 25.

    AFG - 178/5 after 37 overs.

    Four!

Shahzad playing smart cricket here. He takes advantage of all the fielders being inside on the off, moves away and lofts one from Kedar over covers for a boundary.

But Kedar does well after that to keep firing it down leg and not give Shahzad any room. Six runs came from that over.

    AFG - 169/5 after 36 overs.

    SIX!

    Super shot from Nabi!

Kaul bangs it short, despite not having express pace and the wicket not assisting.

Nabi stays still and pulls it hard in front of square for a maximum.

    AFG - 163/5 after 35 overs.

Mohammad Nabi gets his first boundary.

Kedar drifts to the leg, Nabi stays low and sweeps it for four.

Afghanistan need these two batsmen to stay till at least the 40th over.

    AFG - 154/5 after 34 overs.

Steady over from Kaul, just three came from it.

Shahzad is trying to be as innovative as possible but the boundaries aren't coming as frequently as he would like.

Chahar to Shahzad, SIX! That looks like a helicopter-flick. Impressive. Even his idol, behind the wickets, admires it.

Dot. Shahzad dabs one to deep mid-wicket for a single. Dot. Dot. Dot again to end the over.

    OUT!

Deepak Chahar gets his first international wicket.

He bowls it full and on the pads, Gulbadin Naib flicks it powerfully but the ball goes straight to Kedar at deep square-leg.

Afghanistan lose half their side as Mohammad Shahzad continues to battle on.

    AFG - 132/5 after 28.4 overs.

Shahzad has often said that Dhoni is his role model. This will truly be a special moment for him to get a hundred in front of the great man.

    Century for Mohammad Shahzad!

The explosive keeper-batsman gets to his milestone in 88 deliveries.

This has been a splendid effort from the 30-year-old. He gets his fifth ODI hundred.

Chahar returns to the attack and gives Shahzad a gift first up. He bowls a ball on the pads and Shahzad clips it towards fine-leg for four.

Tidy over from Kaul, gives away just a single.

Shahzad has finally crawled his way to 99. Will he get to his hundred in the next over?

Every single is a struggle for Afghanistan at this point. The Indian spinners are not giving an inch.

    Shahzad moves on to 98.

    A welcome boundary for Afghanistan.

Siddarth Kaul comes back into the attack and pitches one short. Naib attempts a pull and the ball hits his glove and runs away to the fine-leg fence.

Meanwhile, Shahzad is still on 97.

    AFG - 124/4 after 26 overs.

Jadeja and Kuldeep are bowling well in tandem here.

The runs have completely dried up.

Shahzad is dealing in singles to get to his hundred. Can't blame him for switching his approach at this stage. He's batting on 97 off 83.

    AFG - 117/4 after 15 overs.

Kuldeep continues to build pressure from one end. He gives away just a single in his fifth over. Shahzad is smartly not taking any risks against the chinaman bowler.

    SIX!

    What. A. Shot.

Shahzad with a brutal strike to welcome young Khaleel back into the attack.

He takes the front leg out and bludgeons it over mid-wicket for a ginormous six.

    Shahzad survives!

He goes for a pull but misses it. There's a clear sound which prompts Dhoni and Khaleel to go up in appeal. The umpire raises his finger quickly but Shahzad asks for a review. DRS shows that the ball had clipped the shoulder and there was no bat.

Shahzad lives on to fight another day. He's on 94 off 76 now.

    AFG - 110/4 after 21 overs.

Kuldeep has given away 6 runs from his 4 overs so far and taken two wickets. Superb effort.

Shahzad turns it on once again!

First, he gets across and sweeps Jadeja past short-fine for four. Then, he gets on one knee and slogs it for a huge six.

The 30-year-old is batting on 86 off 68 now. He's just 14 runs away from his fifth ODI century.

    AFG - 100/4 after 19 overs.

A lot depends on Shahzad now. He's batting on 75 off 62 with 8 fours and 4 sixes. The right-hander is still swinging his bat at pretty much everything but seems to have run out of steam a bit. He needs to dig in deep and keep going if Afghanistan are to get to a respectable total.

    AFG - 89/4 after 18 overs.

Kuldeep misses out on a hat-trick!

He bowls a half-volley and Gulbadin Naib keeps it out with ease.

A splendid over from the chinaman bowler comes to an end. Two wickets and one run came from it.

    AFG - 82/4 after 16 overs.

    OUT!

Kuldeep Yadav is on a hat-trick!

Afghanistan skipper Asghar Afghan is clean-bowled for a first-ball duck.

The ball spun sharply inwards to the right-hander, but he didn't help himself by staying back to a tossed up delivery and then playing across.

Either way, Kuldeep is on fire here! Can he get a hat-trick?

    OUT!

Big wicket for India as Hashmatullah Shahidi perishes for a duck.

That was an absolute beaut of a delivery from Kuldeep.

It dipped in towards the left-hander and turned sharply away. Shahidi was all over it, dragged his back foot out and Dhoni did the rest.

The spinners are doing the trick for India here.

    AFG - 82/3 after 15.2 overs.

    OUT!

    What a ball from Jadeja!

Bowls a peach of an arm ball to rattle Rahmat Shah's stumps. The right-hander has to walk back for 3 from 4 balls. Jaddu has his second wicket.

    AFG - 81/2 after 14.4 overs.

    SIX!

Poor bowling from Kedar, simply tosses it gently into Shahzad's arc. Gets smashed straight back for a maximum.

    OUT!

Ahmadi tries to get in on the act, he steps out and attempts a drive. But the ball turns past his bat and Dhoni does well to gather it and knock the bails off.

Jadeja has provided the much-needed breakthrough for India.

Mohammad Shazad is batting on 56 off 47.

Javed Ahmadi perishes for 5 off 30.

    AFG - 65/1 after 12.4 overs.

Another real/surprising wicket-taking option introduced by Dhoni - Kedar Jadhav.

The Malinga-like offie starts by giving one run in his first over. He offered no pace to Shazad in that over. Smart cricket.

The first Power Play comes to an end and Dhoni brings on his biggest wicket-taking weapon - Kuldeep Yadav.

The chinaman bowler starts his spell by giving away just a single in his first over. Some smart googlys in there.

    AFG - 64/0 after 11 overs.

    SIX!

Shahzad gets his third maximum of the innings by slogging Jadeja over mid-wicket.

Superb comeback from Jadeja, though. Bowls five dot balls in a row to the rollicking Shahzad.

    AFG - 63/0 after 10 overs.

Kaul comes back for his second over. Refuses to learn from the mistakes that Chahar made earlier. Bowls it short and gets pulled for four, pitches it right up and wide after that to get driven over mid-off for four. The Indian right-arm quicks haven't figured out the right line and length for Shahzad.

    Catch dropped!

Shahzad tries to clear mid-off again, but the ball fails to get elevation. Rayudu, though, makes a complete meal of it and allows Shahzad to get to his fifty.

This is the 14th ODI half-century for the Afghan opener. Fine knock so far.

    AFG - 57/0 after 9 overs.

Spin introduced early by MS Dhoni. Perhaps trying to take away pace from the batsmen.

Jaddu starts off with a maiden. The second faced by Ahmadi.

    Eight more runs added.

Khaleel Ahmed with the ball, Mohammad Shahzad on the strike, who begins with a SIX.

    Three dots follow

Cuts to point, Jaddu is quick there, Afghans still manage two more runs.

    Dot to end the over.

Khaleel continues to do good work. He keeps Shahzad off strike and bowls a maiden against Javed Ahmadi.

The line is just outside off and the length is slightly short of good length.

    Bright start for the youngster.

    AFG - 35/0 after 5 overs.

    Whoa, what happened there?!

Chahar attempts a slower-ball but ends up bowling a beamer. Shahzad only just manages to evade it.

The umpire gives Chahar a warning. Dhoni seems bothered for some reason and has a chat with the umpire.

The ball went well over the batsman's shoulders, so no question of it not being deemed dangerous.

Chahar then bowls two bizarre slower-ball bouncers that are huge wides. He finally gets the free-hit straight and Shahzad smashes it for a six over mid-wicket.

The over ends with Shahzad pulling it for four. Huge over for Afghanistan.

    AFG - 35/0 after 4 overs.

Khaleel's second over starts with a boundary. Mohammad Shehzad is striking the ball well today. The keeper-bat hoicks it over mid-on for four.

But the 20-year-old left-arm pacer does well to come back and give away just a single in the remaining five deliveries.

    AFG - 18/0 after 3 overs.

The debutant Deepak Chahar gives away just a boundary in his first over. Shehzad does well to step out and drive it over covers.

There's some away movement to the right-handers. Seven runs came from that over.
