The UP chief minister's justification for installing her own statues is simple: her mentor Kanshi Ram told her to do so.

What a shame it is when public servants become so arrogant that instead of helping the people they represent, who are poor and struggling to make their lives better, they think of themselves as god and spend millions glorifying themselves... This can happen only in India.

Send her straight to jail. That's where she belongs. Gross misuse of public funds is more than enough reason for her to be thrown in jail. Or is she trying to tell us that Rs1,000 crore are from her personal funds?

Is there any law in this country? Can a person at the highest position in a state act like this? Is there anybody above her to act and make her accountable? This will soon fade away from the memories of the people and the next party that comes will also prove a point by doing something cheap and foolish as she has done. Just imagine, had she been the PM what would have happened! GOD save INDIA.

I have never seen any of her work as a symbol of her being a goddess. Instead she is using our hard-earned money coming as taxes to fulfil her wishes. She has no right to stand as a representative of people in Indian democracy.

I agree with the comments. A public audit should be done for all ministers wasting money and they should be jailed for life.

Seize her personal assets. Demand an explanation of how she got so much money. What business does she run? If it has all come from gifts, no ministers are allowed to accept personal gifts.

The taxpayer should protest against such misuse. What is the government doing? Is she not answerable to anyone? Tomorrow, if she becomes the PM (haha for that) she will build her statue in every state because that is what her mentor said.

Mayawati is another idol worshipper. Now she wants to be a goddess. Shame on her. She needs to know the real, living god. It is all there in the Bible. The god of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the god of Israel. Please take the time to read the Bible and you will be blessed. The entire nation will be blessed.

It is the people of UP who are to be blamed for this, as this nuisance would have been impossible without their votes.
