In an omnichannel push, Zara is all set to launch online sales in India starting October 4 this year.

The country will be its 46th market globally to have a Zara website. The e-commerce portal will allow customers make online purchases and have the option of picking it up from a Zara store or get the garments home delivered at a cost. Zara has also tied up with a third-party operated warehouse located close to New Delhi for stocking, handling and delivery of its garments across the country.

Owned by the Inditex Group, which is one of the world's largest fashion retailers, the integrated offline-online store model will see Zara offer the full range of articles currently available in its stores. The garments sold online will also carry same prices as offline stores.

"The website is configured to enable purchasing from any mobile device, using any browser and by means of its app, available for both iOS and Android versions. Payments can be made using all the standard e-commerce payment methods such as PayPal plus all major credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Similarly, when changing or returning purchased items, shoppers will have the choice of online management and returns at their most convenient store, during a 30-day period," said a company spokesperson.

For home delivery, Zara has partnered with three logistics service providers. Deliveries will be made between two and four working days across cities like Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

"As for deliveries in the rest of the country, it will be made between five and eight working days," said the spokesperson, adding that standard deliveries will cost Rs 290 while purchases over Rs 4,000 will be delivered free of cost.

Earlier in May, the lifestyle fashion apparel retailer launched its largest Zara store in India spread across 51,300 square foot in South Mumbai. There are currently 20 Zara stores operational across India, of which five are in Mumbai.
