An easier business environment with favourable policies has led to an increase in women entrepreneurial leadership in the country, according to a survey.

According to LinkedIn, business development, which requires an entrepreneurial mindset, also witnessed a significant increase of about 35% women leaders since 2009.
The survey is based on LinkedIn members data in India over the last eight years to understand what types of roles women were advancing. For global analysis, two decade data were analysed by LinkedIn.
"Gender diversity has become a corporate-wide priority and companies are making progress, it's encouraging to see an uptick in women joining STEM-focused (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields and in observing an almost 30% rise in women leadership in India over the past 8 years," LinkedIn India HR Director Radha Shreeniwas said.
However, there is still work to be done not only in bringing more women into the workplace but also in mentoring and developing them to become future leaders, she added.
The survey further said, traditionally women-dominated industries like media, communication and education continued to witness a steady rise.
Manufacturing and logistics too have seen an increased contribution of women, it said.
Women leaders in these sectors account for almost 11% and 9.5 %, respectively, as of 2017, it added.
At a global level, a huge uptick was witnessed in women joining the STEM sector in the last four decades, the survey revealed.
Further, it found that women were infiltrating military, engineering and architecture roles, as well as the public safety and construction industries.
The top 10 roles globally, which saw an increase of women leadership include test-development engineers, automotive salespersons, mariners, technical sales professionals, physicists, military officers and surveyors, it said.
