VAT, GST evasion of Rs 14 cr detected

Tax officials detected the evasion of Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Value Added Tax (VAT) worth Rs 14 crore from 16 companies through search operations in the past month and a half.

Searches were conducted at 78 locations across the state by flying squads of the Commissioner of Commercial Taxes. In addition to the undisclosed incomes, incriminating documents have also been recovered.

According to a statement of the Commisionerate, Rs 1.37 crore was recovered from Chartered Speed Private Ltd, Rs 33.8 lakh from Hazel Merchentile, Rs 41.3 lakh from Whitehouse Tiles, Rs  28.85 lakh from Mahashakti Coke, Rs 19.99 lakh from Spherecube Infrastructure, Rs 17.96 lakh from Torque Automotive, Rs 16.39 lakh from Narayani Coke, Rs 15.78 lakh from Mahavir Enterprise, Rs 13.87 lakh from Ashapura Saw Mills, Rs 13.66 lakh from Laxmi Snacks, Rs 13.35 lakh from Dharmabhakti Ceracoat, and so on.

Officials said they have  also seized computers which “unearthed huge tax evasions.”
