Sugar: The downslide in sugar prices continued unabated

The government was considering more import of the sweetener to check unwanted hike in prices during the festive season, too weighed on prices, they added.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices slipped by Rs 40 each to end the week at Rs 3,960-4,060 and Rs 3,950-4,050 per quintal, respectively.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also dropped by a similar margin of Rs 40 each to end at Rs 3,640-3,800 and Rs 3,630-3,790 per quintal, respectively.

In the mill gate section, Sugar Kinnoni and Chandpur lost the most by Rs 40 each to Rs 3,800 and Rs 3,650 followed by Dhanora and Shamili fell by Rs 25 each to Rs 3,715 and Rs 3,675 per quintal.

Sugar Simbholi and Morna declined by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,790 and Rs 3,650, while Dhampur, Baghpat and Sakoti decreased by Rs 15 each to Rs 3,675, Rs 3,655 and Rs 3,675 per quintal.

Prices of Asmoli, Khatuli, Ramala, Anupshaher and Nazibabad eased by Rs 10 each to Rs 3,760, Rs 3,765, Rs 3,650, Rs 3,630 and Rs 3,640, while Dorala, Budhana and Thanabhavan leaned down by Rs 5 each to Rs 3,730, Rs 3,725 and Rs 3,720 per quintal respectively. (MORE)
