India may fall short of its 2022 target due to imposition of various taxes and levies on solar products, the cancellation of tenders and tariff renegotiations, research and consultancy firm Wood Mackenzie said

347 gw – installed grid-connected power generation capacity from Jan-Oct 2018

Just 1% – year-on-year solar installed capacity growth expected in 2018

12% – growth rate of solar installed capacity estimated in 2019

7.2% – annual growth in grid-connected power demand

5% – expected rise in electricity generation this year

As bid prices stabilise and costs continue to drop, long-term development remains positive but still not sufficient to meet the 100-GW solar target by 2022,”
Rishab Shreshta, solar analyst at Wood Mackenzie
