Singapore Scoot airline soon to offer direct India-Europe flights with fare as low as Rs 12,000

At present, the no halt flights are available in India at the cost of Rs 45,000.

The debut of Singapore Airlines' low-cost subsidiary, Scoot, in the Indian aviation sector is set to change the rules of the industry.  The special privilege called the "fifth freedom" rights are already owned by the airline that allows it to operate direct flights between India and Europe, reported the Times of India

"Since we have fifth freedom, we can operate direct flights from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata to destinations like Copenhagen, Vienna, Cairo and Manchester," Bharath Mahadevan, head of Scoot in India, told TOI.

The carrier will reportedly offer a one-way trip to Mumbai-Copenhagen route in between Rs 12,000 and Rs 13,000, with the inclusion of a 20kg check-in bag and a meal, the report said. 

"A return trip to Europe would cost around Rs 26,000," said Mahadevan. 

At present, the no halt flights are available in India at the cost of Rs 45,000. The cheaper options are, however, available for a transit flights with their stop in the gulf countries. 

Meanwhile, eyeing the festive season ahead, Air India has announced a discount of 50% on base price for students, army personnel and senior citizens. Air India did not specify the last day of the scheme but has stated that it would offer discounts only on the basic fare on its domestic sectors in Economy Class. To avail the offer, passengers have to purchase tickets at least seven days prior to the date of travel.

Besides the low fare on tickets, customers under this offer can carry 25 Kgs of free check-in baggage.

Indigo is also offering a discount of Rs 1000 on its scheme called family fare.
