Shrimp exports surge to $3.94 bn in Apr-Jan

Strong shipments were on the back of healthy demand in the US, Japan, South East Asia and the EU, as per data from the Marine Products Export Development Authority

20.63% – jump in shrimp exports during April-January period

$5.64 billion – total seafood exports during first 10 months of this fiscal

42.05% – is the share of frozen shrimps in terms of quantity

4.56 lakh tonne – shrimp exports volume during the period

3.78 lakh tonne – shrimp exports volume during April-January 2017-18

10.85 lakh tonne – total marine cargo handled by Indian ports
