Royal Enfield third manufacturing facility at Vallam Vadagal in Chennai begins production

Royal Enfield announced on Monday that ithas started the commercial production from its new manufacturing facility at Vallam Vadagal near Chennai. 

The Vallam Vadagal plant will be Royal Enfield’s third manufacturing facility and will manufacture Royal Enfield motorcycles for India and international markets.

Royal Enfield’s sales have grown at a compounded rate of over 55% over the past 6 years. The company might invest Rs 800 crores, largely towards capacity expansion at Vallam Vadagal, new products and platforms, and  technical Centres in Leicester, UK and Chennai, India. 

In terms of the company's product portfolio, Royal Enfield in closing in on launching a 750cc motorcycle which would go up against the likes of Harley-Davidson Street 750. The motorcycle has been spotted testing in India several times.
 
A division of Eicher Motors Limited, Royal Enfield has created the mid-sized motorcycle segment in India with a product line‐up including the Bullet, Classic and Thunderbird models in 350 and 500cc displacement along with Continental GT 535cc café racer and the purpose built Himalayan powered by the new LS410 engine.
