Fortune India’s Most Powerful Women (MPW) in Business list is out, and Bollywood actors Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Anushka Sharma have made it to the list. Priyanka has, interestingly, made her debut on the list this year.
Priyanka is the founder of her production house Purple Pebble Pictures. Apart from that, she is an investor in dating app Bumble. She has also invested in US-based Holberton School, “a project-based alternative to college for coders and software engineers”.
The UNICEF ambassador helped students adapt to virtual classrooms in Los Angeles during the lockdown phase. She also teamed up with Shah Rukh Khan for 'One World: Together At Home', an initiative to help COVID-19 affected.
Thus, Priyanka Chopra Jonas made it to the list at number 37. Anushka Sharma, on the other hand, is on number 36. The actress had made her debut on the list back in 2018.
Like Priyanka, Anushka had also founded her production house Clean Slate Filmz. This year, she had two major releases on the OTT platforms in 'Paatal Lok' and 'Bulbbul'. The actress also has her own clothing line, Nush.
Fortune India describes the two women as - Anushka has “carved a place for herself in the extremely competitive entertainment industry,” while Priyanka has “shown herself to be an astute businesswoman.”
On the work front, Priyanka is awaiting the release of 'The White Tiger'. Meanwhile, Anushka Sharma is expecting to turn a mother soon. She was recently seen cheering for her husband Virat Kohli in Dubai.
Ekta Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms, Monika Shergill of Netflix, and Aparna Purohit of Amazon Prime Video also made it to the list at no 32, 47 and 48 respectively. The trio's entry has proven that OTT platforms are important in the current scenario.
Needless to say, Monika and Aparna have had a successful run with shows and movies releasing on their platforms. Ekta Kapoor, a constant on the list, has diversified in Television and films as Balaji Telefilms and OTT platforms as ALT Balaji.
