A police inspector has been suspended for failing to solve a case of robbery of Rs 25 lakh within a stipulated deadline.

SSP Vinod Kumar Mishra said said on June 12 the manager of a CNG petrol pump was looted of Rs 25 lakh by motorcycle- borne youths near a private hospital on NH2 falling under Vrindaban Police Station.

The robbery took place when the manager was on his way to deposit the money in a bank.

Inspector Ramesh Chandra Sharma was given seven days to solve the case of robbery. The deadline was extended by three days after a request by him, Mishra said.

He said as Sharma could not crack the case even after an extension, he was suspended.
