The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) made a fresh arrest in the Nirav Modi case on Tuesday, taking into custody a vice president of a firm Gitanjali Group of Companies owned by his uncle Mehul Chowsi in connection with the Punjab National Bank fraud case.

Vipul Chitalia was arrested at the Mumbai Airport after he landed from Bangkok.

On Sunday, the agency had arrested two employees and an auditor of Nirav Modi group of Companies and a director of his uncle's firm.

Meanwhile, Nirav Modi's firm Firestar Diamond moved the Delhi High on Tuesday against a money laundering case lodged by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the over Rs 12,636-crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case.

Firestar Diamond International, which is named as one of the accused in the case, has sought a direction to the Ministry of Finance and the Directorate of Enforcement to supply it several documents, including a copy of the search warrants.

Multiple agencies are probing the scam, allegedly masterminded by billionaire Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi, who have been on the run since the case hit headlines.

There have been 19 arrests in connection with the case so far. Several bank employees are also under scanner.
