Amid robust demand in spot markets, mustard seed prices shot up by Rs 24 to Rs 3,723 per quintal in futures trade.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, mustard seed for delivery in September month contract was trading higher by Rs 24 or 0.65 per cent to Rs 3,723 per quintal, with an open interest of 16,860 lots.

Mustard seed for most-traded August contract rebounded by Rs 22 or 0.60 to Rs 3,685 per quintal, with the business turnover of 61,620 open lots.

Marketmen said building up of positions by participants at existing levels, driven by a firm trend at spot markets largley pushed up mustard seed prices in futures market.
