Celebrating the occasion of world Entrepreneurship Day, ASSOCHAM (Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) on Friday bestowed Mobikwik co-founder Upasana Taku with the ?Best Woman Entrepreneur Award 2017? in the national capital.
Minister of State in Prime Minister?s Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh presented the award to Taku.
The award to the MobiKwik co-founder came close on the heels when it entered into a strategic partnership and funding agreement with leading NBFC (Non Banking Financial Company) player Bajaj Finance to offer India?s first mobile credit and debit wallet.
After being felicitated by the ASSOCHAM, the Mobikwik co-founder expressed her gratitude saying, ?I thank ASSOCHAM for bestowing this honour on me. It is my firm belief that awards such as these would encourage budding entrepreneurs who have great ideas and vision for achieving success in life, but are reluctant to pursue their dreams or succumb to pressures from the society.?
?70 out of 77 nations on the Female Entrepreneurship Index and it is our collective responsibility to improve this and inspire more women entrepreneurs. In a decade, we should aim to become a society where entrepreneurship is gender agnostic,? she added.
MobiKwik is also powering the BSNL?s (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) bespoke mobile wallet which would facilitate ease of payment and also sell BSNL products.
Acknowledging her achievements in the tech startup ecosystem of India, she was featured by Forbes under "Asia's Women to Watch in 2016".
