The country's first duty free Maple store at T2, CSIA departure at the Mumbai airport is offering discount upto 20 per cent on all Apple products.
The new Maple store at the airport offers a range of Mac, iPad, iPhone and Apple watches at duty free prices along with a wide range of phone accessories.
At the opening of a store, Maple Head of Retail and Marketing Vinayak Kamath said, “We’re very excited to open a new store at the International airport where our focus is to give travellers the best experience while they shop for Apple products and accessories at the Maple store."
“We offer a superb range of accessories from the best brands across the world. These include Adam Elements, Zifriend, Xmini and Quick brown fox leather bags," he added.
Meanwhile, in a tie, both, the Mumbai and Delhi Airport have been rated as the World's Best Airport for Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards, 2017 for customer experience, announced by the Airport Council International (ACI).
The Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) and Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) stated that they have been ranked in the top position. The ranking is selected by millions of passengers in a survey carried out by ACI, the trade association of 1,953 member airports across 176 countries. "The award reflects Mumbai Airport's excellence in service parameters that go towards satisfying the needs of travellers," MIAL said in a statement.
The DIAL stated, "With 63.5 million passengers flying through the airport, it has surpassed Changi, Incheon and Bangkok airports in terms of passenger growth. It is now the 7th busiest airport in Asia and among the top 20 busiest airports across the world." Claiming the second position were both, Beijing International Airport and Shangai International Airport and third on the ranking was Taipei Airport.
Despite existing limited capacity, MIAL also said that in a record, it has handled 48 million passengers in 2017-18, an increase of around three million passengers compared to last year, and is aiming to handle around 60 million passengers in the coming years.
The MIAL has said that it will not allot anymore slots to aircraft carriers for UDAN flights that connects smaller towns or cities as it carries less passengers and consumes more time and space at the airport. UDAN is the central government's initiative, also known as Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN), wherein flights are connected between big and small cities.
Rajeev Jain, CEO, MIAL, said, "Because of UDAN the capacity of Mumbai Airport has reduced and also we are not going to give anymore slots to aircraft of UDAN as they are not carrying less passengers and also taking more time on runway." Jain added, "With UDAN the concern is that it is connecting the airports at metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad that are already congested."
