Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Abdul Mannan today wrote a letter to Union finance minister Arun Jaitley over problems being faced by the small traders of the state after implementation of the GST.

"Despite claims by the central government that traders won't face any problem over GST, a lot of small trading units are indeed facing problems. Lakhs of people of our state are involved in the tailoring business. They are facing immense problems since their products are sold to dealers outside the state," Manan said in a letter to Jaitley.

"The contractors, dealers, builders, workers are not getting payments from treasuries, again because of the confusion as to what rates will be applicable to different items. A large section of patients are not getting medicines as lots of medicine shops are not getting medicines from the dealers," Mannan pointed out in a letter.

Mannan urged Jaitley to intervene immediately to address the grievance.
