L&T, Navayug Engineering, Tata Projects, ILFS Transportation, 11 others qualified for Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has qualified 15 companies and 10 bidders in joint and solo venture for the 700-km Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway for a total of 16 packages.

The qualified bidders include L&T, Reliance Infrastructure & Cenzig Insaat Sanayi VE Ticaret AS consortium, Tata Projects- Makyol- Insaat Sanayi Turizm ve Ticaret AS consortium, ILFS Transportation Network-Oriental Structural Engineers consortium, China Guangdong Provincial ChangDa Highway Engineering-SEW Infrastructure consortium, Navayug Engineering, China Construction Fifth Engineering Division Corporation, Afcons Infrastructure and NCC-Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Consortium.

Interestingly, Navayug Engineering had built up 9.3-km bridge connecting Dhola in Arunachal Pradesh to Sadiya in Assam. The bridge was recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

These companies have been qualified from 27 bids submitted by in all 33 companies to MSRDC.  The qualified bidders will now have to file financial bids with MSRDC within next three months.

The work has been split into 16 packages ranging between 28 km and 73 km. The cost varies from Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,700 crore respectively.

However, MSRDC, in a bid to broad base the competition and allay apprehension of fixing of bidding, has invited request for qualification for supplementary shortlist. Those bidders will also have to file financial bids along with 10 bidders.

MSRDC vice chairman and managing director Radheshyam Mopalwar told DNA, “The bidder should not be a company opted for corporate debt restructuring or special drawing rights and in case of company from abroad in joint venture must have done project outside country of origin. However, the RFQ has been modified the pre condition of having constructed access controlled expressway to experience of 4-6 lane highway. This will bring in more competition in the proposed Maharashtra Samrudhi Mahamarg IMumbai Nagpur Expressway).”

He informed that the construction is set to begin in October and the project to be completed within two years.
