Imagine recuperating after a tiring workday by relaxing on the yoga deck, or gorging on a chef curated platter at a temperature controlled infinity sky pool, or enjoying a private barbecue grill, or even better, rejuvenating at a Finnish sauna?

If you think these facilities exist only at an upscale resort or a luxury hotel, or better still, a housing complex, then think again. It could be a cosy home brimming with these super luxe amenities.

As realtors try to outdo one another and help their high profile clients re-imagine living, the plethora of premium offerings customised to provide a seamless luxury living experience are far too many.

From Turkish hammams, Balinese spas, outdoor baths with retractable shutters, private Jacuzzis, private elevators that open into your living areas, and cycleops studios to cycle virtually on world-famous trails; the options are plentiful within individual homes.

“The modern luxury home is designed more like a mini eco-system geared to pamper one’s fancies. Homes are now complete with resort-like amenities like plunge pools and decks overlooking the golf course, or sea,” says Daraius Choksi, studio director, Christopher Charles Benninger Architects Designs.

According to Amar Tendulkar, president, planning and design, Omkar Realtors, projects like Omkar 1973 Worli, which are palatial bungalows in the sky, are designed with refreshing ideas in tune with luxe hotels globally. “The development has distinct areas for entertaining and everyday living. The home provides ultimate privacy while showcasing the expansive ocean view.”

Designers and architects are also introducing elements like rich textures, metallic finishes, polished wood, imported marble and limestone, tall ceilings and living spaces dotted with fountains and indoor gardens; all reminiscent of high-end hotel properties.

Rahul Shankhwalkar, design head, Studio Hirsch Bedner Associates, who is associated with the weekend home project Lodha Belmondo, says it is the attention to detail in luxury hotels and the comfort of living that makes one want their home to feel like a hotel. “In a luxury home, it’s not always about the expensive finishes or materials, but rather space is designed in a way that it responds to the end user’s way of living. Hammams and spas are only a few of those things, which bring in an element of wholeness and health into the home. It is about everything having a place and everything in its right place so that it makes living easy and comfortable.”

We believe in embodying many philosophies integral to luxury hotels while designing our living spaces, says Mayank Ruia, CEO, Maia Estates. “We are careful not to compromise on space’s sense of homeliness, familiarity and warmth.”

Tendulkar says an infusion of softer/warmer colour palettes into the private rooms of luxury homes help to create a more intimate and personal atmosphere.

Realtors say the clientele for super luxe homes comprise HNIs and celebs who always seek experiences that stretch beyond the obvious. “A well-travelled HNI is well-versed with the amazing lifestyle provided by international hotels. By providing world-class amenities at Pelican Grove, we aim to make their home a place they look forward to after a hectic day, one that provides complete relaxation,” says Ruia.

Most importantly, owning a luxury home is a matter of pride and prestige. “And why not? After all, most luxury homeowners have bought their pride and joy with hard-earned money. They want to live in homes that announce their arrival and offer a higher lifestyle, rather than just a postal address,” says Tendulkar.

According to Choksi, luxury homes open up a lot of “family & me” time, as instead of travelling elsewhere to relax and enjoy such luxuries, one can now get it within the comforts of their homes.
