Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman focused on agriculture and allied industries in the third tranche of the economic stimulus package.
While the first tranche of the announcement on Wednesday focused on MSME sector, the second tranche announced on Thursday had packages migrant workers, street vendors and small farmers.
Earlier, sources said the third tranche might also focus on helping the animal husbandry, dairy farming and fisheries industry. Sitharaman held a series of talks with Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Giriraj Singh regarding this over the last week.
Fishermen and people associated with the fisheries industry are heavily affected due to the lockdown which has been on for over 50 days. Both the domestic market and exports have been affected due to the lockdown imposed to stop the spread of COVID-19.
The government may provide easy and low-interest loans to the industry.

A central law will be formulated to provide adequate choices to the farmers to sell produce at an attractive price, barrier-free interstate trade and framework for e-trading of agricultural produce: FM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on Tuesday announced a cumulative package of Rs 20 lakh crore (nearly 10 per cent of GDP) to provide relief to various segments of the economy. The package includes already announced PM Garib Kalyan Yojana providing grains and cash to poor and Rs 5.6 lakh crore stimulus provided through various monetary policy measures by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The details of the rest of the package is announced in tranches. In the first tranche on Wednesday, Sitharaman unveiled a Rs 5.94 lakh crore plan that mostly comprises help to MSME sector, including collateral-free automatic loans of Rs 3 lakh crore small businesses.
Addressing the press conference on Thursday, Sithraman said the second tranche of the economic stimulus package will be for the benefit of migrant workers, street vendors and small farmers. Among the announcements made by Sitharaman was arrangements for migrant workers, credit line to street vendors and measures for the rural economy.
